David Cowan, a partner in Bessemer’s Menlo Park office, launched the firm’s practices in cloud infrastructure, consumer tech, cyber-security and space tech. His historical portfolio includes: Ciena, Hotjobs, Blue Nile, Twilio, LinkedIn, LifeLock, PSI-Net, Qualys and over a dozen other IPOs, as well as many large acquisitions such as Twitch, Postini, Cyota, iSight, Tripwire, Netli, Playdom, Dropcam and Skybox Imaging. His current portfolio – spanning startups founded in the U.S., Argentina, Singapore, Israel, New Zealand and Scotland – includes Rocket Lab, Spire, Getinsured, Smule, Endgame, Claroty, Tile, Distil, Auth0 and Zapier. David earned an A.B. in math and computer science and an MBA degree, both from Harvard University.
Todd Davis was named executive vice chairman of LifeLock, Inc., in March 2016. In this role, Todd helps support the business in a variety of ways by capitalizing on his skills and experience as a pioneer in recognizing identity fraud as a serious consumer issue. Previously, Todd was the company’s chief executive officer. Todd helped found LifeLock in 2005. In 2009, he received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for Orange County/Desert Cities region for a Top Emerging Company. In 2010, the company debuted in eighth place on the Inc. Magazine 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in America. He holds undergraduate degrees in entrepreneurship and management from Baylor University.
Nicolas El Baze is General Partner of Partech and based in San Francisco. He joined in 2000. Prior to Partech, Nicolas spent 15 years as an entrepreneur and founded several companies, some of which were financed by Partech, including Softway International (acq. by ITway), Softway Systems (acq. by Microsoft), and ISDnet (acq. by Cable & Wireless). Nicolas received an MBA from Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) in Paris, France and is a graduate of the International Management Program from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and the University of Cologne, Germany.
Jimmy has over three decades of experience in venture capital, private equity and alternative investment management. He has served as a director, board observer, consultant and/or investor in start-up and later stage businesses across multiple sectors including: telecommunications, information technology, energy, insurance, finance, real estate, specialty retail and medical devices. Jimmy actively manages holdings in various hedge funds and was a co-founder of River Street Management, LLC, an advisory and management services company in 2009. Jimmy attended the University of Memphis on a football scholarship (1973-’76) graduating cum laude in Finance in 1976.
Sunil, a vice president in the Menlo Park, CA office, focuses on investments in space, developer tools, Internet of things and security companies. Sunil serves as a Board Director for Auth0 and Zoosk. He is a board observer at GetInsured, Rainforest, Rocket Lab, Spire, Tile and Virtru. Sunil is also involved with Bessemer’s investments in Simply Measured and Zapier. His past investments include Twitch (acquired by Amazon), Defense.net (acquired by F5 Networks) and Grow Mobile (acquired by Perion). Sunil holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he graduated with honors.
Stephen has extensive experience in sourcing, structuring, and managing venture investments. Mr. Roberts has been involved in a plethora of entrepreneurial businesses, including line management, capital allocation, personnel management, sales, and marketing. Early in his career, Stephen was a transactional lawyer. Prior to co-founding ESO, Mr. Roberts has been involved as a founder or investor in numerous wireless communications businesses and private equity opportunities. Stephen graduated cum laude from the Harvard Law School and summa cum laude from Mississippi State University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Stephen’s community activities include being a member of the Board of Directors of the Chickasaw Counsel of the Boy Scouts of America.
